Room attendance
Check children in and out. Only an authorized pickup can take them home.
What this is
Attendance is how you check children in and out during the day. Only someone on the child’s pickup list can take them home. There is no fingerprint or face scan.
Do this
- After you sign in, open Attendance from the left menu.
- Find the child’s room. Status shows Checked in or Not checked in. Open the row menu and tap Check in when they arrive.
- When they leave, open the row menu and tap Check out. Choose who is picking up and type that person’s name for the attendance record.
- If a child will not come today, use Mark absent on the row menu. If wifi drops, Ashby queues check-ins and syncs when you are back online.
How it works
- Checked in — status on each child’s row. The row menu shows Check in or Check out depending on that state (same idea as Your shift).
- In house — how many children in the room are checked in right now.
- Pickup list — parents and contacts marked for pickup on Children. Ashby will not check out to anyone else.
- In ratio — a soft reminder when a room has more children than your staffing table allows. It does not block check-in.
- Your shift — shows whether you are clocked in. One button clocks you in or out. It does not check children in; that is each child’s row below.

Ashby is built for small US centers and in-home daycares. Open an account, set up your rooms, and run the day — without a long onboarding project.
